GM India wins safety award for its Halol Plant

Halol Plant of General Motors brought grace to the company by bagging the Gujarat State Safety Awards 2010. The award is an initiative by the state government of Gujarat in order to appreciate programmes and steps taken by companies to ensure various safety measures. The company has grabbed 3 consecutive awards in a row.

The Halol Plant of General Motors was nominated for its tremendous safety features employed in the plant. ‘Achievement of lowest D.I.I (Disabling Injury Index)' and ‘The Winner Rotating Shield' category nominated General Motors Halol Plant.

Addressing the proud occasion, Mr. P Balendran who is the vice president of GM India commented that this is the third time in a row that the company is able to grab this prestigious award and this is a result of the continuous efforts taken by company to ensure highly safe working ambiance. He also said that the company is further motivated with this award and will further try to implement more advanced safety features in its plant. Mr. P Balendran also flaunted the companies strict policies for implementing safety norms and accident prevention.

This is not the first time that the company is graced with such prestigious title and awards as company's plant and models are known for excellent performance and thus have bagged many other attractive awards as well. Some of the awards include Quality Circle award bu Gujarat Govt., Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), National Safety Award and Energy Conservation award by Government of India.

The yearly National Energy Conservation Awards is an initiative to admire the achievements and innovations in the energy conservation by the different industries including aviation sectors, state designated agencies, railways and building. The award encircles all those segments which take initiative in energy conservation potential and its implementation. And leaving all behind, General Moors was able to bag this prestigious award. This shows the immense dedication of General Motors in implementing safe and environment friendly technologies.
