The Ecosport will be a sub 4-metre SUV that will be based on the Fiesta platform. The company will also introduce the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which is a turbocharged direct injection and it also produces 120bhp. This is another turbocharged petrol engine, and at the moment only Fiat has a T-Jet engine. Soon, Volkswagen will also introduce their 1.2-litre TSI engine on the Polo.

The other engines on offer on the Ecosport will be the 1.5-litre petrol— this wil be available with manual and automatic transmissions— and the other is the 1.5-litre diesel. These are the same powertrains that are on offer on the Fiesta as well.

The Ecosport is a five-seater and the design of the instrument panel is a direct-pick from the Fiesta. The Ecosport also gets push start and stop button and even keyless entry as new additional features. This will be the first vehicle in India that will get Ford’s new SYNC, that the company had announced last year and one of the first companies to have the OpenX platform for developers.
