    Fiat to supply LCVs to Opel

    It is official that the Italian car brand, Fiat will supply light commercial vehicles to Opel, the German auto giant. Opel is General Motors' subsidiary enterprise since 1929. As per reports available, Fiat SpA is in deal with Adam Opel GmbH, to supply the light commercial vehicles. The Adam Opel GmbH is a subsidiary of the German plant of General Motors, the American auto giant. But last year Fiat was not successful in buying the stake of the company.

    It is official that the Italian car brand, Fiat will supply light commercial vehicles to Opel, the German auto giant. Opel is General Motors' subsidiary enterprise since 1929.

    As per reports available, Fiat SpA is in deal with Adam Opel GmbH, to supply the light commercial vehicles. The Adam Opel GmbH is a subsidiary of the German plant of General Motors, the American auto giant. But last year Fiat was not successful in buying the stake of the company. As per the deal, the company has to supply minimum of 6,000 units in 2011 but it can exceed to around 250,000 units though no financial data is available.

    In 2009, Fiat tried to acquire Opel but it was unsuccessful then also, as Magna International of Canada. But before Magna could go further, General Motors, took over Opel in lieu of its restructuring plans in the European market.

    Fiat is planning to manufacture vehicles with Koc holding at its Tofas Turk Otomobil Fabrikasi AS partnership in Bursa, Turkey. As per the reports, the new portfolio of the automobiles, was based on the Fiat Doblo which will substitute the Combo car model sold under the Opel and Vauxhall brands.

    In India, Fiat the Italian manufacturer is establishing itself in the Indian auto market. The company is best known for its technology and craftsmanship and has 5 car models available such as Fiat 500, Fiat Grande Punto, Fiat Linea, Fiat Palio Stile and Fiat Palio Stile Multijet. The Italian car maker in India is in partnership with Tata Motors. Recently, the company achieved the breakthrough record by producing 200,000 powertrains at the company's Ranjangaon unit near Pune, Maharashtra. The engines are affixed in Tata cars such as Tata Aria and also exported to European car market.
