Chevrolet MPV to be called Enjoy, launch likely by mid 2012

General Motors India recently displayed its India bound MPV at the 2012 Auto Expo. The auto major has decided to play a name game for the new MPV and christined it with a brand new name to suit the Indian car market, unwilling to adopt the same name with which it sells in China. ‘Enjoy’ is the name GM India has come up with for the new MPV and this is not all in the breaking news.

Another surprise the auto major has delivered is the all –petrol variant of Chevrolet Enjoy for the time being proving all the speculations of the sole diesel variant to be false. However, the diesel car lovers not to worry as the diesel variant with the 1.3 L multijet engine will closely follow the petrol car launch at a later time if not in mid-2012. The Chevrolet Enjoy price is expected to be around Rs 5 – Rs 6 lakhs, at this price the MPV is likely to sweep the MPV segment single-handedly, currently dominated by the big baboons, the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo in the Indian car market.

The 1.4 L gasoline engine churning out 96 Bhp will be powering the Chevrolet Enjoy petrol which is again the same engine thought to work under the hood of the Chevrolet Sail sedan going forward. All the same, General Motors India has not conjured up something special for the new MPV, but has done some clever bit of manipulation bringing in the same petrol engine powering the soon-to-become-extinct model Chevrolet Aveo petrol sedan.
