    2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Camaro sportscar has been unveiled at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo, which is being held in the Greater Noida region. Chevrolet recently released an official statement, claiming that visitors to the company’s pavilion will get a “mesmerising experience” and by the looks of it, they weren’t messing around.

The car being showcased, is the 6th generation Camaro and unlike the muscle car offering from the fellow American automaker, Ford; this sportscar will not make its way to India anytime soon. Much to our disappointment, the model being showcased continues to feature a left-hand drive configuration, unlike the right-hand drive - Ford Mustang GT, which will be launched in India during the second half of this year. However, Chevy has imported few units to India for research and development purposes.

    2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Under the hood, this muscle car sticks to the American saying - the bigger, the better! Camaro features a 6.2-litre V8, which is only available in SS variants, like the one up on display. The power plant produces 455bhp of power output, which helps this car outshine its arch rival - the Ford Mustang (at least in the international markets). This unit comes coupled to a standard 6-speed manual transmission, along with an option for an 8–speed automatic. It must be noted that Camaro’s powerplant produces 43bhp more than Ford’s Coyote engine, which one can find in the Mustang GT sportscar. This is to say that Camaro features Mustang’s power output, plus roughly that of a Maruti Alto 800. Camaro also weighs around 1514kgs as compared to 1601kgs (approximate) of Mustang, which in turn makes it lighter and results in improved power-to-weight ratio. Still, Camaro can not compete with the Stang’s legacy, but it’s all and all a better car, as compared to Mustang GT (no wonder, Autobots picked it), which is why it’s a shame that it's not arriving in India anytime soon.
