BMW Mini Working on the Coupe Version of the Countryman
The launch of the Mini cars in India is still a fresh story and the owner BMW has already started to develop a brand new variant of the Mini Cooper in an attempt to expand its foothold in as many segments as possible. From the famous design table of Mini which treated the world with the five door crossover, Countryman, a sportier three-door variant boasting a coupe-like roofline is all set to be rolled out.
This concept saw the day-light under the Paceman moniker at the 2011 North American International Auto Show that was held in Detroit. The said car is expected to make an appearance on the roads in the first half of the next year under the name Mini Countryman Coupe. The new three door version of the Countryman will maintain the wheelbase dimensions with 13mm more length and 20mm lesser height than the five door version.
The design philosophy is obviously going to experience basic differences with the sloping coupe-like roof taking over the height of the SUV and the rising waistline finishing beautifully at the rear end that has been redesigned with all new and unique tail lamps definitely not typical of Mini as a brand.
During the launch time, among the powerful drivetrains doing duty in the Countryman line-up the one expected to power the Countryman Coupe will be 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is capable of generating a peak power of 215bhp and a peak torque of 280Nm in the John Cooper Works model that supports all-wheel drive.
The year 2013 is going to be witnessing the introduction of this absolutely new and fresh version of the Mini Countryman.
