However, the changes look more pronounced on the technical side to improve the fuel efficiency to the car. The major transformation is in both the diesel and petrol engine. However, it is the same 3.0L V6 diesel engine that powers the car this time as well. But, it is the fuel efficiency that is worth mentioning. The Blue Efficiency technology in the car takes the fuel economy to the next level with the new engine now sipping mere 6 L to cover 100 km distance. This means the mileage will be over 16 kmpl, which is class-leading by any standard especially in the luxury car segment. The power generated by the car has always been exemplary at 240 Bhp and 510 Nm peak torque with assistance from the 7 speed automatic gearbox. Moreover, the 7-speed automatic gearbox can be adjusted according to the users’ preference in six different drive select modes.

This can be handled from the ‘Drive Select’ mode either directly from the gearbox or the similar option on the paddle shifters present on the steering wheel. An innovative concept in the M-Class SUV makes it an ‘Energy Transparent Vehicle’. This technology helps the Daimler technicians understand how efficiently the energy is being consumed by not just the diesel or petrol engines, but also the hybrid and electric vehicles also. The techno gadgetry in the M Class for all the safety and comfort features has always remained to be the best in the class that will be retained in the new version as well.
