Hyundai Exports up by 12.3%, Domestic Sales down by 13.5% in March
Despite slowdown in the Indian auto industry, Korean auto-giant, Hyundai has gained in export market. Hyundai India, country's second largest car manufacturer and largest passenger car exporter, recorded a 12.3 per cent growth in exports in March 2013. The company sold around 33,858 units in India and exports 22,579 units, which is an excellent number considering the present scenario.
Mr Rakesh Srivastava, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “The slowdown of economy is impacting vehicles sales. Against large base of last year there was a sharp drop in conversion of enquiries in the absence of any positive stimulus and sentiments. We foresee the pressure on volumes to continue till there is significant improvement in macro-economic factors”.
In the last quarter, where almost all carmakers faced slowdown Hyundai gained in market share with its strong performance and marketing initiatives, as during slow sown customers prefer products with higher quality assurance and aspiration, He added.
However, company's domestic sales has recorded a huge negative growth of -13.5 per cent to 33,858 units sold in March 2013 as against 39,122 units in the same time span last year. The cumulative sales of HMIL registered a decline of 4.7 per cent to 56,437 units in March 2013 as against 59,220 units last year.
Talking about the segment-wise cumulative sales for March 2013; Hyundai sold 47,678 units of Santro, Eon and i10, 8,143 units of Accent and Verna, 546 units of Elantra, 20 units of Sonata and 50 units of Santa Fe SUV.
