With this move, Toyota India, world’s top car maker, will release cheapest 1.2-litre car in the small car segment which is also the fastest-growing segment in the Indian passenger car market. Furthermore, it will compel other car makers in lowering their car prices. It is worth mentioning that currently the hatchback cars like Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia and Fiat Punto are available at a price tag starting from Rs 4.3 lakh and move on to Rs 8 lakh, depending on the variant selected.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Auto Practice Leader Abdul Majeed said that price has always been the decisive factor in the competition. He added that with the upcoming price war, Indian consumers will be able to choose as well as upgrade to bigger cars. Earlier this week, Honda Siel Cars slashed the price of their most popular flagship car model “Honda City” by six percent with an aim to compete with newly launched Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento. As per sources, Honda Siel Cars is expected to launch its compact segment car Honda Brio in India, this year and with Toyota Etios Live price being quite competitive, Honda will have to cut down the price tag even before the launch.

Also, the reports of Honda India planning to slash the price of its Honda Jazz hatchback are circulating over the internet. Without providing any hints on Toyota Etios Liva price matter, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Deputy MD (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said that company is going to release the car with most competitive price tag just like Toyota India did with Toyota Etios. He further said that Toyota Etios Live will serve as value for money product to Indian buyers.
