Toyota Etios hybrid version to be launched after Toyota’s study of Indian market
For launching the hybrid version of Toyota Etios, the proposed small car of Toyota, the company will study and analyze the Indian market. Toyota announced that Toyota Etios will be commercially launched by the end of this year 2010. Mitsuhiro Sonoda, Toyota Motor Asia Pacific President, said that they are trying to find out every possible alternative for launching 'Etios'.
Apart from diesel and petrol variant, they will study the market and demand for launching the car in other fuel options (LPG and CNG) and hybrid mode, said the president.

President Sonoda however declined to give any time period for launching Toyota Etios in the alternate fuel option. Toyota is present in India through a joint venture with Kirloskar Group. Toyota is soon going to invest an amount of Rs 32,00 crore for setting up its second facility in Bangalore for the launch of Toyota Etios in both Sedan and hatchback version along with petrol and diesel options by the end of this year.

Sonoda also stated that the company has to discuss the issue of launching Toyota Etios with other fuel options with the Government. It will also depend on the availability of infrastructure in the country. The company will decide at the appropriate time, added Sonoda. About the exports, Sonoda said that the company will evaluate overseas market after consolidating its position with 'Etios' in India. Toyota is expecting to sell around 65,000 units of 'Etios' next year.
