Toyota back on track, ready to roll-out 20,000 Etios cars by June-end

Recent development in Indian car industry states that, Toyota Motors is now back on track after devastating earthquake followed by Tsunami on 11th March in Japan. Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar, Sandeep Singh said that company will be delivering 20,000 Toyota Etios cars by end of June.

It is worth mentioning that in 2010 when Toyota Kirloskar Motors unveiled Toyota Etios, it was taken with right hand by the customers and it went on creating a milestone with bookings crossing 12,000 cars in just 14 days. After that Japan was swept away with the big tsunami and due to which Toyota India units faced production losses owing to scarcity of car parts and accessories which were earlier being imported from Japan.

Mr. Sandeep Singh added that earlier company was facing issue with meeting the amplifying demand of Toyota Etios due to low production rate. And now two shifts are working overtime, and thus waiting period has been decreased to just 8 weeks, which will further go down to about 4 weeks by the end of June.Furthermore, Mr. Singh commented that Toyota was earlier operating only on 30% of its production capacity. He added that company suffered production loss of about 10 thousand cars in total. He further added that now units are working at 100% capacity.

On the point of any set back due to recent hike in fuel prices on Toyota cars, Mr. Singh commented that even after the hike, consumers are still stepping in showroom for Toyota Etios since Toyota blends quality and value for money in the product.”Additionally, on the matter of company launching Toyota Etios diesel anytime soon, Mr. Singh said that company will look into it, but only after the Toyota Etios Liva launch.As per to sources, Toyota Kirloskar Motors would like to keep the price tag of Toyota Etios more competitive with building parts locally. As for now, Toyota manufactures 70 percent parts of Toyota Etios locally and intends to increase the level by 90 percent by 2013.Also with recent launch of re-touched Toyota Corolla Altis and already present Toyota Innova and Toyota Etios, company is trying to acquire good share in Indian car market. Moreover, Toyota is expected to launch the Etios Liva hatchback on June 27th.
