Sumit Sawhney Joins Renault India Leaving GM as Sales Head

Renault India has announced the appointment of Mr. Sumit Sawhney, an automotive professional of many years in the Indian market to spearhead its marketing & sales activities in the Indian market. Mr. Sawhney joins Renault India as Executive Director, Marketing & Sales from October 18, 2012. He brings with him 17 years of automotive experience. In his previous company he was leading the sales, marketing and after sales activities. He has occupied diverse positions at different levels and fields. In Renault India, he will be based in Chennai and take up the charge of Sales and Marketing on November 1st 2012 and will report to Mr. Marc Nassif, MD Renault India Pvt Ltd.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Marc Nassif, MD, Renault India Pvt Ltd said “Mr. Curran has been instrumental in setting Renault India on a growth trajectory and we fully appreciate his contribution to the company and we wish him the very best for his next assignment. At the same time we welcome Mr. Sawhney in to the Renault family and we are confident that with his vast experience and understanding of the dynamics of the Indian automobile industry he will ensure that Renault India is on the right path to grow rapidly. It is time for Renault to localize not only products (which it has rapidly done) but also the talent pool for human resources.”

Mr. Len Curran, VP, Marketing & Sales will relocate within Renault Group after completing his assignment in India. Mr. Curran joined Renault India in 2010 and was responsible for Sales & Marketing activities of Renault India. Under Mr. Curran’s leadership the company had successfully launched five products and started creating world class dealership facilities.

Mr. Curran has a vast experience of the Renault process and he was instrumental in India in setting up the standards and process and ensuring that the future customers have access to world class Renault facilities. Mr. Curran will hand over charge to Mr. Sawhney on November 1st, 2012 but will continue to be with Renault India till early 2013 before leaving to assume charge of his new role within the Renault group.
