About a week ago we informed our readers about Mahindra & Mahindra’s confirmation on the launch for the SsangYong Rexton, which will take place on the 17th of October. And now with the launch only a few days away, the high-end SUV has been caught testing in Mumbai, partially camouflaged. As can be seen from the pictures, this is the SsangYong Rexton W, the very same that was unveiled at the 2012 Busan Motor Show in Korea.

This new version of the Rexton comes with quite a few changes chief among them being a completely new front fascia incorporating a new chrome clad grille, 18-inch alloys, projector headlight with LED daytime lights, ORVMs with latched turn signals and all new sportier tail lamps. The Rexton W comes with dimensions of 475 cm length and 190 cm width. The wheel base is 283 cm and the SUV stands at an impressive height of 184 cm.

The European Rexton W comes with a 2.7-litre Mercedes-Benz sourced diesel mill and while Mahindra remains tight-lipped about the engine specifications, we expect it house a down-rated 2.0-litre diesel mill that can fetch 152bhp along with 367Nm of torque. Speculations are ripe for an automatic transmission for the Rexton W, but there is a greater probability of a 6-speed manual transmission. For now, we will have to wait till the 17th of October before all the details become clearer. Till then enjoy these pictures!
