Nissan Motors India has officially announced to raise the prices of the their flagship hatch Micra and mid-size sedan Sunny with effect from this November. Where other companies are offering discounts and other freebies this festive season to lure buyers, Nissan seem to be going against the market stream with the price hike. The reason for this increase is cited with the reason that the company is not able to counter the increasing manufacturing costs and an unprecedented hike in logistics and transportation because of  the sky high fuel prices.

Apparently Nissan had marginally increased the prices of Micra and Sunny this January only, where the prices of Micra were raised by Rs.3,000 for the petrol variants and Rs.12,000 for the diesel ones and Sunny had gone costly by  Rs 5,000 whereas  the prices diesel version were unchanged as it was recently launched. While all the leading automobile manufacturers raised the prices of their models this year after the budget was announced, Nissan India absorbed the appreciation in the input cost and withheld the price hike. Now the company is not able to bear the appreciation in input costs and therefore has passed the brunt to its consumers with the price hike which is going to go effective from November 1st 2012.

With the prices of Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny going a level higher, the Japanese auto major is not going to increase the current price tag of its recently launched MUV, Nissan Evalia. Nissan India seems to be on a high with 33,000 units sales in the financial year 2011 and is planning to reach 100,000 units by 2013. In order to achieve the two fold increase, Nissan has adopted aggressive marketing strategies and plans to  expand its dealerships network from 75 to 95 by the end of current financial year.
