Mitsubishi Pajero Sport goes on sale March 12th

Mitsubishi Pajero has been consistently on the top position in the SUV lineup of Mitsubishi for India. Pajero has won numerous hearts since its first launch in 1991. The Pajero’s twenty years old design is now losing competition to the new SUVs in India like Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe. Almost after a decade of the launch of last version of Pajero, Mitsubishi-HM is set to launch the next-generation Pajero on March 2012. This new generation of Pajero will be known as Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and will be housed with a 2.5-liter, turbocharged diesel engine which can pump out 135 BHP of power.

The engine is also said to be fine tuned for fuel efficiency. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is being offered in both 4-wheel and 2-wheel drive outside India, but it is yet to be seen if Mitsubishi offers both options in Indiatoo. The torque on offer in Pajero Sport is 32kgm from 2000rpm, the acceleration time too is expected to be better than the current version. The Pajero Sport being launched in India will sport ABS, driver and passenger airbags, projector headlights, reverse camera and cruise control.

This seven seater avatar with 3 rows of seats will be loaded with air-con vents for all rows, parking sensors, black and beige dual tone color theme, two-din touch screen and six speakers. There is another powerful version of Pajero Sport (175BHP VGT equipped) which unfortunately Indiamight not be able to see initially. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport could be priced in the range of Rs 20-Rs 23 lakh for the Indian market.
