The year is coming to an end, but the luxury car makers are continuing with the same pace. Mercedes-Benz has been the most dominant of all and it is clearly visible as the company will launch the SLK 55 AMG today. The SLK has already been on sale and at the moment it comes only with the 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine.

At the moment, only the C63, E63, SL63 and the G63 are available in the AMG line-up. SLK will get the 5.5-litre V8 engine, driving the rear wheels through a responsive seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. The new V8 engine develops 421bhp at 6,800rpm and 540Nm of torque at 4,500rpm, ensuring extremely rapid acceleration: 0-100km/hr takes just 4.6 seconds on the way to a limited top speed of 250km/hr.
