Brezza and Venue demand grows as rivals face steep decline in month-on-month demand

  • Brezza crossed 12,000 units in a month for the first time since March 2019.

  • Venue enjoyed best MoM sales yet with over 9,600 units.

  • Tata Nexon still third most popular sub-4m SUV even as MoM sales dropped by 22 per cent.

  • Ford EcoSport struck with nearly 35 per cent drop in MoM sales, less than 3,000 units in November.

  • Mahindra sub-4m SUVs least popular as XUV300 MoM figures dipped by almost 27 per cent and TUV300 demand nearly halved.

The festive season has passed and the customer demand tends to dip in the following month. While most models in the sub-4m SUV segment have experienced that decline in month-on-month sales, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue actually registered a strong increase in sales numbers in November 2019.

Here’s a detailed look at how each SUV in the segment performed in November 2019:

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: The Brezza is the only model in its segment to cross the 10,000-unit mark with over 12,000 units sold in November -- a MoM increase of over 17 per cent.

Hyundai Venue: Hyundai’s sub-4m SUV is the only other model in its segment to enjoy a positive MoM growth in November 2019. In a MoM increase of nearly 13 per cent, over 9,600 units of the Venue were shipped. It currently enjoys over 30 per cent market share of the sub-4m SUV segment.

Tata Nexon: The Nexon witnessed a 22 per cent drop in its MoM figures with Tata shipping less than 3,500 units in November. It is still the third most popular model in its segment.

Ford EcoSport: The Ford EcoSport had the biggest drop in MoM sales as compared to its primary rivals. Under 3,000 units were shipped in November as compared to 4,326 units in October, which is a decline of almost 35 per cent.

Mahindra XUV300: Mahindra shipped less than 2,500 units of the XUV300 -- a 27 per cent drop in MoM figures. This is the second-least popular offering in the sub-4m SUV segment.

Mahindra TUV300: The MoM figures for the TUV300 dropped by over 45 per cent. Mahindra sold less than 700 units as the TUV300 remains the least popular sub-compact SUV offering.

Despite the positive results of top-sellers Brezza and Venue, the sub-4m SUV MoM sales dropped by over 3 per cent.
