    Mahindra new platform teased

It is no news that Mahindra is going to reveal a new SUV platform on August 15, 2025. In that regard, the carmaker has now teased the upcoming platform. Notably, this upcoming platform is expected to underpin the 2026 Mahindra Bolero that has been spotted testing multiple times. Not just this, the teaser also gives a glimpse of a SUV concept that Mahindra could showcase on the same day alongside the platform.

Let us take a look at everything we can spot from the teased video:

    What Could Be Seen?

While Mahindra has not disclosed the full details yet, the new platform teased in the video is likely to be called “Freedom NU,” as hinted in the clip. This platform will support annual production of up to 1.2 lakh units at Mahindra’s new Chakan facility near Pune. According to some online reports, it could be a monocoque architecture capable of accommodating a wide range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric.

As for the SUV concept shown in the teaser, it appears to be called the 'Vision.T'. Based on its design cues, it closely resembles the Vision Thar E (electric Thar) concept that was first showcased in August 2023. Key elements such as the squared bonnet, sharp body lines, angular edges, and visible hood latches all point to this. Additionally, rugged tyres and pronounced wheel arches reinforce the possibility that the Vision.T is a reworked version of the Thar E.

As mentioned earlier, the Thar E concept was showcased as a 5-door electric-powered off-roader in South Africa in 2023. It features the most aggressive Thar design to date, with a closed-off illuminated grille bearing the “Thar.e” lettering, squared lighting elements, chunky bumpers, flared wheel arches, and chunky off-road-spec tyres.

The interior follows a similar rugged yet futuristic theme, with an upright dashboard layout, a rectangular fully digital driver’s display, and a two-spoke steering wheel. The wide centre console houses the gear selector, low-range controls, and drive modes, while the touchscreen infotainment system is tilted towards the driver for ease of use.

Built on Mahindra’s INGLO P1 platform, the Thar E concept had a wheelbase ranging from 2,775mm to 2,975mm. The production-spec model based on this concept is expected to feature a dual-motor setup with four-wheel drive and terrain-specific drive modes, and offer a driving range of over 400 km.

While the new Vision.T may feature some exterior and interior design changes, it is likely to be showcased in its production-ready form in 2026. The production-spec model is expected to be priced at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
