Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Launching this Diwali
Our close sources at M&M have confirmed that the much awaited SUV from SsangYong, the Rexton has been decided to be launched during the Indian festive season, Diwali. SsangYong, which was bought by Mahindra & Mahindra in February, 2011 was looking for the best time to launch this globally aclaimed vechicle in India.The coming Rexton is going to be the first product from SsangYong Motor, after the acquisition.

The Rexton has been said to be coming with the Mercedes- sourced 2.7-litre, in-line, five- cylinder Turbo diesel engine, mated to a five-speed automatic tranmission that produces 165 Brake horsepower, which is in fact lesser than majority of the players available in the segement. This might also come in a five-speed manual transmission.Although, the engine housed in the Rexton is an in-line one, expecting a good fuel economy would not be an over expectation. It will be coming in all wheel drive (AWD) option.
Nothing can be said on the competion as of now, but having a price tag between Rs 16-18 lakhs, this might fall in competition with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and even Mahindra's XUV500. One thing which still remains a mystery is, whether it will be called Mahindra Rexton, Mahindra SsangYong Rexton, or just Ssanyong Rexton.
