Tata has introduced the Tiago EV as its entry-level electric offering. Bookings for the electric hatchback will open at 12 noon on October 10 for Rs 21,000, while its deliveries will begin from the new year. Tata will be putting up the EV for display at select malls across major Indian cities soon, and test drives will commence from late December onwards.
In Favour Of Customer Interest And Growing Tata’s Reach
As per Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales and Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, “Most of the queries have been on the 24kWh battery pack variant, and we have prioritised its production to meet the customer requirement.”
With the launch of the Tiago EV, Tata is also entering 80 new cities, while expanding its EV network to over 165 cities.

A Recap Of All The Specs
The Tiago EV comes with two battery pack options: 19.2kWh and 24kWh batteries paired with an electric motor rated at 61PS/104Nm and 75PS/114Nm, respectively. While the former has a range of 250km, the latter can cover 315km. Both figures are Modified Indian Driving Cycle-certified (MIDC). The Tiago EV is also equipped with four-level regenerative braking and two drive modes: City and Sport.
It gets four charging options: a 15A socket charger (up to 8.7 hours), 3.3 kW AC charger (up to 6.4 hours), 7.2kW AC charger (up to 3.36 hours), and DC fast charger with 10-80 percent charge in 57 minutes.

Price And Rivals
Tata has priced the Tiago EV in the range of Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh (introductory ex-showroom Delhi). Although it doesn’t have any direct rivals as of now, it will serve as an affordable alternative to the upcoming Citroen C3 EV.
