The Volkswagen Tayron is essentially the 7-seater version of the current-spec Tiguan that was launched in April 2025

The Volkswagen Tayron, which is essentially the 7-seater version of the VW Tiguan R-Line, was spotted testing in Maharashtra earlier this month. Now, our sources have said that the German full-size SUV is expected to be launched in India after Diwali 2025, which will be celebrated on October 21 this year. While the carmaker is yet to comment whether it will come in the sportier R-Line trim like the current-spec Tiguan, the spotted Tayron in India was the R-Line version.

Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron in India:

Exterior

The exterior design of the Volkswagen Tayron is similar to the 5-seater Tiguan R-Line that is on sale in the country. As such, it comes with dual-pod projector LED headlights that are connected by a sleek light bar. There’s a black trim under the light bar which features a ‘R’ badge in the R-Line variants. The front bumper features a huge grille with diamond-shaped air intake channels.

In profile, while the international model gets up to 20-inch alloys, the India-spec model can come with the same 19-inch dual-tone rims as the Tiguan R-Line. However, due to its elongated wheelbase, the Tayron looks larger than the Tiguan. Other than this, the 7-seater SUV gets silver roof rails and body coloured door handles and outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs).

At the rear, the Tayron gets the connected LED lights with pixel-design elements and a black portion on the bumper that makes it look sleek but rugged at the same time.

Here are the differences in dimensions of the internationally available Tayron and the India-spec Tiguan:

The dashboard layout is also similar to the 5-seater Tiguan, with a similar all-black theme in the R-Line model, a 3-spoke steering wheel, a 15-inch floating infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. It also gets some ambient lighting elements on the dashboard that make it look funky.

Another major difference with the Tiguan R-Line is that the Tayron gets 3 rows of seating with the middle row featuring a bench and two more seats in the last row. The R-Line variant of the Tayron gets sport seats at the front.
