MG Majestor

The MG Majestor has been officially unveiled, and it's not a facelift of the Gloster; this is a clear shift in how MG wants to position its full-size SUV. Bookings have opened for a token amount of Rs 41,000, prices will be announced in April, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026. Power comes from a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, offered with both 2WD and 4WD options.

It sits in the same space as the Toyota Fortuner Legender, the Skoda Kodiaq, the Jeep Meridian, and the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line. While it is based on the Gloster, the Majestor has a very different character, larger in appearance, heavier on features, and clearly aimed at buyers who want a proper ladder-frame SUV with a bit more equipment and presence.

The Majestor doesn’t try to blend in. At over five metres long with a 2950 mm wheelbase, it has the kind of size that’s immediately noticeable. MG claims it’s the longest, widest and tallest in its segment, and visually, it backs that up. 

The front gets a large gloss-black grille with a busy pattern, flanked by slim vertical DRLs placed high up. The main headlamps sit lower in the bumper in a split setup. There’s a strong, upright bonnet line and chunky lower cladding, which together give it a more serious look.

In profile, the silhouette remains familiar (you should check out our detailed comparison of Gloster and Majestor), but the detailing is sharper. The 19-inch alloy wheels, finished in a dual-tone design, fill the arches well. There’s good usage of black elements, which makes the overall look cleaner, premium and less flashy. The stance is boxy, upright and typical of traditional SUVs.

At the rear, there’s a connected LED tail-lamp strip, vertical reflectors and twin exhaust outlets. The tailgate is flatter than before and carries large “MAJESTOR” lettering across it. Check out the detailed image gallery of the Majestor here to take a closer look at its design details.

It will be offered in 4 different monotone shades: Pearl White, Concrete Grey, Metal Black and Metal Ash. Metal Black, in particular, suits the SUV’s size and design well; it tones down the chrome-free aggression and makes it look more understated without losing presence.

Inside, the tone changes from rugged to premium. The cabin gets a black theme with leather upholstery and soft-touch materials across the dashboard and door pads. The layout is straightforward and doesn’t feel overly experimental. Might remind you of the Tata Punch, specifically the infotainment screen and the AC vents beneath it. 

Two 12.3-inch screens, one for infotainment and one for the digital instrument cluster, dominate the dashboard. Physical controls for functions like climate control, 4x4 operations and more are still present, which makes everyday usability easier, but headlamp controls are only available through the infotainment system, which is a little hassle in our opinion.

Seat comfort is clearly a focus. The front seats are 12-way powered, ventilated and come with an 8-mode massage function. The Savvy variant adds memory functionality for the driver. In the second row, buyers can choose between a 6-seater layout with captain seats or a 7-seater configuration with a bench. The 6-seater version feels more suited to chauffeur-driven use.

Overall space is generous across the first two rows and just about adequate in the third one.

Features

On paper, the Majestor is well-equipped. It gets dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered tailgate with gesture function, three-zone climate control and over 75 connected car features through MG’s i-Smart system.

The connected features include remote AC control, digital Bluetooth key, geo-fencing, OTA updates and voice commands in multiple Indian languages, including Hinglish. There’s also a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a JBL 12-speaker audio system, dual wireless chargers and a 220V power outlet for the second row. 

Some of these will appeal more than others, but the feature list is extensive.

The Majestor is built on a high-tensile ladder-frame chassis and comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, hill descent control and a 360-degree camera.

The Savvy variant also gets Level 2 ADAS. This includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s a comprehensive list and puts it ahead of some rivals in terms of driver assistance features.

The Majestor is powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215 PS and 478 Nm. It comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

There is no petrol option. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and a 4WD system.

The 4WD variants get 10 off-road modes, crawl control and triple differential locks, front, rear and centre. With 219 mm ground clearance and an 810 mm water-wading capacity, this is one of the more capable SUVs in its class on paper.

MG Majestor Savvy variant:

• Top-spec trim, offered with 4WD only.

• Adds Level 2 ADAS, ventilated and 8-mode massaging front seats, driver seat memory, and a 12-speaker JBL sound system.

• Includes all features from the Sharp while focusing more on comfort and driver assistance tech.

The Majestor feels like MG’s attempt to push beyond the Gloster and offer something more assertive in the full-size SUV segment. It focuses heavily on size, equipment and off-road capability, while also adding features that cater to comfort-focused buyers.

Whether it can unsettle the dominance of long-established names is something only time will tell. But as a package, especially on paper, it brings a lot to the table for buyers looking at a large, diesel-powered ladder-frame SUV in this price range.
