Chevrolet confirms 2017 Compact Beat Sedan

Chevy is developing a sedan version for its very successful Beat model. This variant is being developed with the next generation of the hatchback. The next generation Beat, aimed for Indian market is anticipated to be a reworked version of the current car and not the new Spark.

GM India has clarified that the new Spark will not be entering Indian market because of cost issues that are associated with bringing a new car into production. A representative of the company also said that the new Spark, which made its internationally debut this year, was only aimed for developed markets and in a cost-sensitive market like India, it will not prosper.

The under development compact sedan, is presumed to have similar styling cues as the next generation Beat. The car’s length will be under four-metres. The Chevrolet Spark of international markets will share its components with both of the Beat models. Specific details of these components remains unknown.

The sedan is expected to feature a 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine and a similar petrol variant. The three-cylinder petrol engine is a downsized version of the 1.4-litre four-cylinder Ecotech motor, which is featured in the new Spark and the three-cylinder diesel engine.

Beat sedan is expected to make its debut in 2017, like its hatchback cousin.
