The petrol-powered 2018 Ciaz facelift will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift is set to launch on 20 August 2018. As we reported before, the updated model will be available with both petrol and diesel engines although Maruti will offer it with just the petrol unit at launch. The petrol engine will be the new K15B unit that was introduced earlier in 2018 on the Indonesia-spec second-gen Ertiga. In the 2018 Ciaz facelift, this engine will be paired with Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid tech.

Sources in the know inform us that this engine will produce a maximum power of 105PS at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 138Nm at 4400 rpm. The power and torque output is the same as the new Ertiga’s. This engine is rated to deliver around 18kmpl on the second-gen Ertiga (Indonesia Test Cycle). On the 2018 Ciaz facelift in India, this 1.5-litre petrol engine equipped with SHVS will deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.56kmpl with the manual transmission. Like the Indonesia-spec new-gen Ertiga, the 2018 Ciaz facelift will also be available with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission in India. With the automatic transmission, the powertrain will deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.28kmpl on the 2018 Ciaz facelift, around 3.6kmpl more than what it’s rated to deliver on the Indonesia-spec second-gen Ertiga.

Compared to the outgoing Ciaz, which is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that makes around 92PS of maximum power, the 2018 Ciaz facelift will be 0.83kmpl more fuel efficient (manual transmission). That way, Maruti will manage to offer around 13PS more power without any compromise in fuel efficiency. The outgoing Ciaz AT is rated to deliver 19.12kmpl, 1.16kmpl less than the upcoming Ciaz facelift.
