Toyota has brought the second generation of the 2016 Fortuner to the Bangkok International Motor Show 2016. Slated to be launched in India in 2017, the new version is 90mm longer and shows various changes inside and out.

The 2016 Fortuner gets modified projector headlamps with a bigger ‘Toyota’ brand name written on the front grille. The fog lamps placed in the honeycomb mesh look really cool when compared to the last ones which were simply placed in the front bumper. The TRD Sportivo variant is distinctive in the sense that it gets exclusive 20-inch black alloy wheels with a ‘TRD’ moniker and a TRD Sportivo badge on the tailgate. The stainless steel exhaust system, 'TRD'-stamped floor mats and door sills further add to the appeal of the car. The sporty character gets a boost from a new front bumper and a black roof.

The TRD variant is able to maintain its exclusivity even when you talk about the interiors. It gets a unique TRD instrument cluster accompanied by a TRD push start system. The huge T-Connect infotainment system, with 11 speakers and a 7-inch touchscreen display, looks impressive.

The automobile borrows the mill from the new Fortuner. This 2.8-litre diesel engine produces 177bhp of power with 450Nm of peak torque and mates with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The power figures of the TRD Fortuner’s closest rival, the new Endeavour (3.2-litre diesel mill), are 197bhp and 470Nm (Check out our comparison).

The 2016 Fortuner measures 4,795mm x 1,855mm x 1,835mm (L x B x H). It has a wheelbase of 2,475mm and a ground clearance of 225mm. Though the SUV gets a marginally shorter breadth when compared to its predecessor, the enhanced length and the height help make it much more spacious.
