2012 Ford Mondeo might be on the product line-up for India

The posh Ford Mondeo could make it to the Indian shores but not before 2014 is what the rumours suggest. The next generation sedan is spotted a couple of times in the US markets which puts it in a totally different light from the outgoing model. It is the looks alone of the car that takes the cake away. The sharply cut lines of the new generation car is way different from the usual Ford line-up. However, there is not a single hint on what the new Ford Mondeo price in India could be.

Its strongest rivals Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta and upcoming Peugeot 508 in the D segment sedans might help us in speculating the price of the new sedan. The Ford’s Ecoboost engine of 1.6 L and 2.0 L capacity are the options open for the Mondeo sedan. A diesel engine is also on the cards especially for the European market. This gives us a hope that Indian market might also see a diesel engine under the hood. Though unsure about its varied body styles for the Indian market, the Mondeo sedan is expected to be offered in three different styles - the usual sedan version, a hatchback and a wagon version as well.

Moreover, a hybrid engine of petrol and electric pack is also lined-up for the U.S market. 2012 Auto Expo will bring a new set of launches from the auto major with Ford Fiesta AT and a compact SUV Ford Ecosport already in the equation. Ford Fiesta apart, the C-segment is likely to see another entrant from the auto major. A Ford Focus is a new sedan also on the cards though the Ford India chose not to reveal much on the subject at the moment.
