अमेरिकन एसयूवी मेकर जीप की कंपास एसयूवी लंबे वक्त से चर्चा में बनी हुई है। जीप कंपास की खासियत ये है कि यह मेड-इन-इंडिया प्रोडक्ट है और इसे इस साल की तीसरी तिमाही तक लॉन्च किया जाएगा। फिलहाल कंपास की टेस्टिंग चल रही है, टेस्टिंग के दौरान पुणे के पास इसकी झलक देखने को मिली।
यह दूसरी जनरेशन की कम्पास है, जीप की दूसरी एसयूवी रेनेगेड की तरह ही इसे भी भारत के अलावा चीन, ब्राजील और मैक्सिको में तैयार किया जाएगा।
जीप ने भारत में पिछले साल ग्रैंड चेरोकी, ग्रैंड चेरोकी एसआरटी और रैंग्लर अनलिमिटेड के साथ कदम रखा था, इन तीनों एसयूवी के दाम काफी ज्यादा हैं, कंपास की कीमत इन से काफी कम होगी। कीमत और लागत को कम रखने के लिए कंपास को भारत में ही तैयार किया जा रहा है। इसे यहां से निर्यात भी किया जाएगा।
