Maruti Swift ZXI BSIV

Maruti Swift is undoubtedly one of the bestselling hatchbacks available in the car market. This model series has undergone a minor changeover in terms of almost every aspect. At present, this vehicle is available in four petrol and three diesel variants for the buyers to choose from. Among those, Maruti Swift ZXI is the top end petrol variant, which is equipped with the same 1.2-litre, K Series petrol engine under the hood. However, this motor produces slightly less power of 83.1bhp, but can generate a peak torque output of 115Nm. As a result of this, its overall fuel economy has been improved to 20.4 Kmpl. This top end variant is now available with a few additional comfort features including push button engine start, reverse parking sensors and a multi-functional steering wheel with illuminated switches. In terms of exteriors, this vehicle gets a new radiator grille, redesigned alloy wheels and modified bumper with silver accents, which gives it a refined look. On the other hand, the automaker is now offering this hatchback with three new exterior paint options including Mysterious Violet, Granite Grey and Fire Red.

Exteriors:

The automaker has retained the same body structure like its earlier version, but has made some minor tweaks to its exterior cosmetics. Its front facade gets a redesigned bumper with sporty structure. Furthermore, its air dam has been pronounced, while the fog lamp consoles are now fitted with silver strips. In addition to this, the automaker also revamped the radiator grille with honeycomb mesh and is embedded with company's insignia. It is surrounded by a large headlight cluster that houses turn indicators and halogen lamps . The side profile too gets a new look owing to its newly crafted alloy wheels, which are embossed with Suzuki's logo. Its A and B pillars are garnished in black, whereas the outside mirrors and door handles are painted in body color. In addition to these, this trim is now available with extractable wing mirrors, which are further integrated with turn blinkers. Its rear profile remains mostly identical to its outgoing model with concave windscreen and clear lens taillight cluster. Its boot lid is also retained and is decorated with a lot of chrome inserts.

Interiors:

This Maruti Swift ZXI trim gets an updated interior cabin, which is done up with black color scheme. Furthermore, its door panels have a sporty wraparound finish with silver accents, which gives a refining look to the cabin. The seats are slightly modified with improved back and thigh support. In addition to this its rear cabin is now fitted with 60:40 split folding bench seat along with adjustable head rests, which adds to the convenience. This top end trim is also bestowed with an updated steering wheel that has illuminated switches for audio along with Bluetooth call function as well. Its dashboard has been retained and is equipped with a proficient AC unit along with music system and multiple storage spaces. There is a lot of leg and shoulder space, as it is built with a long wheelbase and width. On the other hand, this hatchback has a total boot compartment of 210 litres, which can now be increased further by folding the rear seats in desired split ratio.

Engine and Performance:

This top end version is equipped with a slightly modified 1.2-litre, K- Series petrol mill that has multi point fuel injection technology. It is based on the same DOHC valve configuration with four cylinders and 16-valves that displaces 1197cc. Its power production is slightly reduced to 83.1bhp at 6000rpm but the torque output raised to 115Nm 4000rpm. As a result of this, its overall mileage has been improved to a maximum of 20.4 Kmpl (as per ARAI certification). The automaker has paired this power plant with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that allows the front wheels to derive torque output.

Braking and Handling:

This hatchback is blessed with ventilated disc brakes to its front wheels and drum brakes for its rear. In addition to this, it is also incorporated with a next generation anti lock braking system that works with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist system to further augment this mechanism. On the other hand, its front axle is paired with a McPherson Strut, while the rear is coupled with a torsion beam . Apart from these, it is also integrated with an electric power assisted steering system based on rack and pinion mechanism that supports a turn radius of 4.8 meters.

Comfort Features:

This Maruti Swift ZXI is the top end variant, which is now equipped with a few additional comfort features like Bluetooth controls on steering wheel and 60:40 split folding rear seat with adjustable headrests. Apart from these, it has a list of features including an automatic climate control unit, driver seat height adjuster, electromagnetic back door opening, retractable cup holders and rear window defogger . In addition to these, it also has electric power steering with tilt adjustment, all four power windows, keyless entry, central door locking and lane change indicator.
