    Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2012: Ameya Wins the Race one of Round Three

    Once again, for the 2nd consecutive race weekend, Ameya Walavalkar takes a lead in the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2012 which completed the first race of the Round Three, held at Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai. His track time was 2:01.037 and following with a difference of 0.672 seconds is Sandeep Kumar and next is the Guest driver and 2010 Polo R Cup Champion Sailesh Bolisetti, who will be starting from the 3rd position on the grid with a difference of 1.395 seconds with Ameya.

    Commenting on his achievement in the Race One of Round Three, Ameya said that it felt good that he would be able to pick up from where he left. He added that he managed to achieve the best time on the opening lap when the tyres were in an excellent condition and also that it would be important for him to start from this position and make sure that he manages to stay ahead. He further mentioned that he loved the track and extremely excited for the next race. 

    Second on grid, Sandeep Kumar, said that he was quite satisfied with his performance and also added that Ameya’s performance was difficult to match up to. He further said that he felt more confident about the race as the race-car will be able to perform even better over the race distance. Sailesh Bolisetti on the other hand said that though the Qualifying could have been better but he was happy with his 3rd position on the grid and that it felt great to be back at the Polo R Cup and drive the new TSI Race Polo.

    Head of Motorsports, Volkswagen India, Prithviraj Siddappa said that it felt great to be back to the Chennai race track and even in the challenging weather, the Volkswagen Motorsports team and the drivers had risen to the occasion.
