Skoda Fabia sedan on cards, company eyes at accelerating production
Recent years have witnessed the successful launch of sedan version of the popular hatchbacks , the renowned names among these cars are Maruti Swift Dzire, Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Polo. Now the upcoming news from the Volkswagen is that the company is planning to launch the sedan variants of its new car Skoda Fabia soon in the global market. Noted that Skoda comes under the belt of Volkswagen, the German auto giant is planning to increase its production capacity to 1.3 lakh units annually at it’s Chakan plant located near Pune.

Recently it was reported by the company officials that the production of the forthcoming car Skoda Fabia Sedan (SK 251, which is the product code of this version) will be starting soon at the Chakan plant. With this the company would also be able to boost up its production capacity from 450 units per day to 500 units per day. The company sources also revealed that the Skoda Fabia Sedan may be named as ‘Rapid’ as it will carry the platform from Volkswagen Vento. The Volkswagen Company expects to launch it on Indian roads during the festive season of Diwali.

It is expected that Skoda Fabia Sedan will have to face competition with cars like Maruti SX4 and Honda City, therefore the Skoda Fabia Sedan will be launched with both petrol and diesel variants. The launch of Skoda Fabia Sedan will also be a challenge for Volkswagen to meet the demand of its other variants along with concentrating on the launch of the same.

According to the company sources, it is already not able to meet the demand of Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento variants and has the waiting period upto six month. Talking on this situation Mr. Alexander Skibbe, Head of Communication, Volkswagen India said, that the company will reach the production capacity of 1.3 lakh units by the end of this year. He also added that as the part of their renovating strategy company has started working in three shifts few weeks back. Let us hope that situation improves for Volkswagen and it successfully launches its new variant on expected time.
