If you have had your eyes set on the upcoming 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI, we have some good news for you. The German carmaker has officially commenced pre-launch bookings for the hot hatch ahead of its expected launch later in May. And if you intend to bring one home, deliveries are set to commence from June 2025.

If you really had your heart set on the VW Golf GTI and fancy bringing one home, we would advise you to be quick, as it will be available in limited quantities. The Volkswagen Golf GTI will arrive on our shores as a full import.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: What Makes It Special?

It’s all about making the driver smile. A 2-litre turbo-petrol engine sits underneath the hood, belting out 265 PS and 370 Nm. All of that is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas, wait for the “launch control active” icon to pop up on the digital driver’s display and go! Nought to 100 kmph is dispatched in a claimed 5.9 seconds before maxing out at 250 kmph.

With so much performance underneath the hood, tweaks have been made underneath the hood. It sits on stiffer springs than standard Golf for lesser body lean, while the steering rack is quicker to make it more agile. The brakes have also been upgraded for improved stopping power.

    Volkswagen Golf GTI: Looks

    Volkswagen Golf GTI front

The Volkswagen GTI definitely has the looks to match its go. Up front, the sleek gloss black piano grille gets tastefully done red detailing along with a GTI badge. A slim LED light bar connects both the headlights, which looks great, especially at night. The bumper is aggressive with honeycomb detailing, and the fog lamps, which form an X-motif, are neatly integrated into it.

In profile, the Golf GTI sits lower than the standard Golf for that lowered, sporty look. It gets 18-inch 5-spoke alloys, and the red brake callipers give it a nice contrast. There is also a GTI badge on the front doors to tell you that you’re driving a special hot hatch. Moving on to the back, you get wrap-around LED tail lamps, and the presence of dual exhaust outlets on its rear bumper completes the look.

On the inside, the VW Golf GTI gets an all-black dashboard with contrasting red highlights that make it stand out. Dominating the dashboard is a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, through which most of the features are accessed. The driver gets to grip on a chunky three-spoke steering wheel, and right behind it is a crisp 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

The sports front seats get bold GTI embossing and are finished in Tartan upholstery, which is a trademark touch of all Volkswagen GTI cars.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: Expected Price And Rivals

The Golf GTI, being a fully imported model, means it won’t be cheap. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 52 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will go up against the Mini Cooper S as well as the upcoming Skoda Octavia RS on our shores.
