Why not the Forester again, Chevrolet?

With the growing demand of compact SUVs in India, manufacturers are now targeting this UV segment. Ford had already showcased the EcoSport, Mahindra has come in with the Quanto, Renault with its Duster. Maruti Suzuki recently got the Ertiga and the company hasn’t just tasted success, to also got a good chunk of market share back under its name. Fiat has also announced its future plans of getting a sub-compact B-segment SUV in India by 2015. Skoda’s Yeti has also been around for over a couple of years now.

After the Sail sedan and the Enjoy, GM could be working on a small SUV for India called as Trax, which was unveiled recently. The concept was recently unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. But GM can still get back the Forester in India. This was one of the first compact SUVs and was much ahead of its time for the Indian market. The Subaru Forester, rebadged as the Chevrolet Forester could have a re-entry into India, if GM wants to capitalize to this quickly growing market. Possibly, the not so good response could be the reason to not get back the “Forester” tag.
