Update: There has been a lot of revamps and upgraded versions of popular car seen at the Auto Expo 2016, but the German automaker Volkswagen brought out a new model dubbed as Volkswagen Ameo. This new car would be entering the sub-4 metre compact sedan category, a segment which already has a lot of competitors in the form of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Chevrolet Sail. Yes, it's true! Volkswagen will be revealing the name of its India-specific compact sedan. The compact sedan which has been spied on multiple occasions in the past and was rumored to take on the moniker “Ameo”, will be officially christened tomorrow. This revelation was made via a video, which was posted on the German automaker’s official YouTube page yesterday. The video is also part of a marketing campaign, in which Volkswagen invites the viewers to try and guess the name of its upcoming offering. It was also implied that participants are addressing the upcoming car with its official moniker, which has been beeped in the clip.

The description of the video also confirmed that this particular offering by Volkswagen will have its world premier at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, which will be held from 5th to 9th of February in Greater Noida.

The compact sedan finds its foundation in the PQ24 platform, which it will share with the company’s Vento sedan and Polo hatchback. Speculations also suggest that the upcoming car will incorporate the same powerplant options which are found in the Volkswagen Polo. Speaking of Polo, the overall aesthetics of the upcoming sedan will bear substantial resemblance to the aforementioned hatchback and Vento sedan while incorporating certain updates.

The front fascia of the car might feature a revised bumper and the rear will distinguish the compact sedan from its siblings, courtesy of a chunkier boot. The overall design of the boot is aimed to ensure that the car falls in the tax bracket of sub-4 meter compact sedans, where it will rival the likes of Ford Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Dzire and Tata Zest. In addition, a refreshed tail-light cluster will also be donned by Volkswagen's upcoming offering.
