However the lithium-ion batteris are supposedly better than the NiMH batteries. Toyota felt that they might have to suffer later as hybrid cars with lithium-ion batteries had better range than those with NiMH batteries. After this realisation Sanyo came into the picture and Toyota bought Sanyo, the Japanese lithium-ion battery maker. Sanyo is also one of the major suppliers of batteries in the world.

Primearth EV is another company that has manufactured 3 million million traction batteries till date. Incidentally Toyota also owns 80.5% stake in Primearth EV. Toyota's competitors also buy batteries from the these battery manufacturers which are owed by Toyota. Lets see whether Toyota's rivals will continue to buy batteries from its biggest rival Toyota in future.
