    Toyota to launch Etios in India soon

    TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motors), Indian subsidiary of Japan based Toyota Motors is all set to launch its small car model Toyota Etios in India. Toyota showcased a concept of this car in Delhi Auto Show, last month. The company is targeting to double its sales figures within next five years in India. Hiroshi Nakagawa, managing director of the company said in an interview that the company needs at least 10 percent market share to become a significant player in the volume market segment. Toyota Motors facing a tough time after some accelerator related issues surfaced in its models in US market. Now, the reports of a possible recall of Prius model by the company in US and Japan market added fuel to the fire. Toyota Motors, which is known for its quality and safety oriented manufacturing had become worlds largest automaker (by replacing GM) in year 2008. Company has to recall around 8 million vehicles sold in US market due to an erring accelerator and now company received complains about a problematic braking system in its popular Hybrid model, Toyota Prius.

Toyota Motors, which is known for its quality and safety oriented manufacturing had become worlds largest automaker (by replacing GM) in year 2008. Company has to recall around 8 million vehicles sold in US market due to an erring accelerator and now company received complains about a problematic braking system in its popular Hybrid model, Toyota Prius.

    Mr Nakagawa added that the incident of mass vehicle recall is a good opportunity for the company to review its activities related to quality of the vehicle. The Etios model has been specially designed for the Indian market as almost all major car makers competing hard to capture a good market share in small car segment. After the launch, Etios model will compete with models like Volkswagen Polo, Ford Figo, Fiat Punto, Hyundai i20, Maruti Ritz and Maruti Swift.

    Toyota is currently selling its models across all segments which includes crossover model Toyota Innova, SUV model Toyota Fortuner and Sedan Toyota Corolla. Company recently launched Toyota Prius model in India which is expected to hit the road by month of March this year.
