Toyota Etios bookings to open in a week's time
Toyota Etios will soon be launched on the Indian Terrain and the eagerly awaited car bookings will open in a week's time. As per the top officials from the company, the expected sales of the new car are speculated to be 65,000 units in the next year and for that the booking will start soon. Hiroshi Nakagawa, the Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar said with enthusiasm that, the company has decided to launch its much awaited small car Toyota Etios in Bangalore. He added with confidence that the company is planning to sell 65,000 cars from a total sales target of 1.5 lacs cars in all the models available by next year.
Toyota Motors, the Japanese auto maker who operates in joint venture with Kirloskar Group has invested Rs 3,200 crore to start a second manufacturing unit in Bangalore to make the first small car for the domestic market. However, the company is yet to announce the price of the car.
Toyota Etios will be seen as both sedan and hatchback models. The company has decided in December to sell the sedan model of Toyota Etios first and after three months it will launch its hatchback model. Mr Nakagawa confirmed the news without disclosing the price of the car that, Toyota Etios would first be launched as a sedan model and hatchback model of Toyota Etios will follow which would be launched after three months. Toyota Etios is a big bet for the company as it plans use the potential market. The car has been especially crafted for the Indian customers keeping in mind the taste and needs of the people here. Mr. Nakagawa added that, Toyota Motors for the first time has entered in the small car segment. Toyota Etios is made for Indian buyers, to suit the requirements of the sub continent. The company expects the new car to show increased sales graph for the company. The challenge while making the car was to build a quality car in a price constraint.
Mr Nakagawa, also said that, the second manufacturing unit will produce Toyota Etios. The capacity of the new plant is 70,000 units yearly which the company expects to increase in future. To compliment the car A R Rahman, the world renowned musician has been roped as the brand ambassador for the new Toyota Etios as the company wishes to take the advantage of his popularity. The company across India, sells range of cars such as Toyota Corolla Atlis, Toyota Camry the sedan models and SUVs are Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prius and Toyota Innova. Next year the company expects to sell 1.5 lacs vehicles and is speculating that out of the total, 65,000 units will be contributed by Toyota Etios.
