Few cosmetic changes on the exteriors and interiors are never ignored when a revamped version is launched as it is the new look that the consumer beholds. However, the transformation comes in terms of the engine overhaul. The 3.0 L Common Rail Diesel engine is offered as another option while retaining the older one to fall in lines with the current BSIV norms. The older Tata Safari’s 3.0 L TCIC engine is continued despite falling short of meeting the current emission norms, but will remain to satisfy the BSII emission norms. The 5-speed manual gearbox is offered as a standard in association with both engine options.

The new 3.0 L CRDi engine is a huge improvement from the past 3.0 L DI turbocharged engine with a boost in power of 80 Bhp from 70 Bhp and a remarkable increase in the torque front as well from 223 Nm to 250 Nm. The 3.0 L TCIC Direct Injection engine is modified to amplify the torque output to 250 Nm from 190 Nm, though the power output is on the downside at 80 Bhp, while upgrading the 2.0 L TCIC engine , which produced 90 Bhp peak power output. However, the auto major is likely to harp on the tremendous mileage offered by the MUV of 14.07 kmpl leaving its competitors insignificant. Therefore, its much of the mechanical makeover rather than a mere facelift with yet another change in the suspensions.
