SsangYong Rexton Launched in 7 More Cities

Roughly 2 weeks ago we bought to you information on Mahindra Mahindra's plans for launching the SsangYong Rexton SUV phase-wise in 7 cities. And now, we can confirm that as MM launched the luxury SUV in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Ludhiana, Patiala and Chandigarh today. Chief Marketing Officer of MM Automotive Sector, Mr. Vivek Nayer was present at the Chennai launch and addressed those present.

The Indian Rexton comes with the RX-5 and RX-7 variants from the SsangYong Rexton line-up and houses the Daimler sourced, 2.7-litre, 5-cylinder configuration CRDI engine that is lined up to a 5-speed manual or the Mercedes-Benz sourced 5-speed automatic transmission. The RX-5 variant produces 162bhp while the Mercedes Sourced RX-7 hands out 184bhp.

According to Mr. Nayer, MM was encouraged by the success of the XUV500 and proceeded to launch the Rexton. He made no comments or confirmations on the next-in-line Kando launch that is slated for 2013. Also present was Mr. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, MM who stated, “For Mahindra, the launch of the SsangYong Rexton last month marked a momentous occasion in our automotive journey. We are now extending the offering of this high-end SUV to the discerning Indian consumer in 7 other cities. I am sure that the Rexton with its perfect combination of indulgence, refinement, style and performance will carve a niche for itself with consumers within these new cities.”
