Renault Modus expected to be priced at Rs 4.5 lakh
Renault Modus is the new hatchback to be offered by the luxury brand Renault. The Renault Modus hatch components could be slightly priced higher than the Nissan Micra components, due to which the Renault Modus price is expected to be placed higher than Micra at around Rs 4.5 lakhs. The new hatchback was spotted during the test rounds, which is said to come with an engine with the likes of Nissan Micra, though the engine control unit (ECU) is expected to be imported from Japan.

The upcoming hatchback is likely to be endowed with better interiors in terms of air-conditioning and interior plastics, which are thought to be locally manufactured. The potential challengers for Renault Modus in the segment are – Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Swift. Renault India plans to introduce petrol and the diesel variants, however a delay in the launch of the diesel variant is expected for some unforeseen reasons.

The French auto brand Renault made its debut in India as a separate entity in May this year after the luxury brand decided to pull the plugs on the JV last year. Renault made its debut in the country with the launch of Renault Fluence, early this year and had recently launched its SUV Renault Koleos. Renault-Nissan JV was formed in 1999, with Nissan holding 15% of Renault’s stakes and Renault with 43.3% of Nissan’s shares as a part of cross-holding partnership.
