Premier Auto to roll out compact mini-SUV Rio on Oct 28

India's older car maker, Premier Auto, is all set to launch India's first compact diesel SUV Rio, on October 28. Chairman and MD, Premier Auto, Maitreya Doshi will unveil the mini-SUV Rio in Mumbai. According to some news reports, the company has tied up with Chinese company Zotye Auto for supplying CKD kits from its local plant and is to be assembled at Premier Auto's facility at Chinchwad near Pune. The plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 units. It is believed that the first compact diesel SUV will be priced lower than the Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio.

The plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 units. It is believed that the first compact diesel SUV will be priced lower than the Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio. Never theless, the space and other things will be less as suggested by the name mini-SUV. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the mini SUV Premier Rio will priced between Rs 5.5-6.5 lakh. The SUV is believed to be powered by a 1.5 litre, four cylinder indirect injection mill from Peugeot. The power train belts out 65 bhp of peak power. The company is owned by the Doshi family that is the country's older car manufacturer.
Volkswagen and GM also are gearing up to introduce its vehicles- Volkswagen Polo and Chevrolet Beat respectively.

Good news actually. Looks very cute.This is the same Zotye nomad available in china. They introduced a 5008 fully loaded version, which is avalable with a cheaper price of around 70000 cny(chinese yuvan), that is around 470000 in indian rupee. In my opinion, If PAL really wanted to make a bang with this suv, they should give atleast similar or more features MM given in their ZYLO e8 version, with around 7 lakh. PAL can do this because the company has tied up with Zotye Auto
