Peugeot-Citroen joint venture is in the final stages to decide the location of the plant in India. Till now Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are choices finalized by Peugeot. This car manufacturer is currently selecting the place, planning of the product is being done, as to which product is best suited for Indian Auto Market. Two images of the products that could be launched in India by Peugeot are around and it is quite a possibility that Peugeot 207 and Peugeot 508 could be running on the Indian roads very soon.

According to reliable sources, actually three cars of Peugeot were being tested in India and were spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Express highway. One was hatchback, other one was a station wagon and last one was a sedan. Peugeot 207 was the hatchback car, which has been present and active in the European market since September 2007. Peugeot 207 is currently available in 3 body styles- Estate, Cabriolet and hatchback. Rumor has it that Indian Auto Market will see the hatchback version first and the other versions might follow later.

The Peugeot 207 hatchback is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre diesel and 1.4 litres of petrol engines. Globally, the 2.0 litre of diesel engine powered Peugeot 207 is already available. It is also expected that it will either come with 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox. Peugeot 207 Price is not yet revealed but with so many hatchbacks already in the Indian Auto Market, there is possibility that the price will be kept lucrative and competitive to suit the Indian consumers’ pocket.

Another model that was spotted in India was Peugeot 508, which is a sedan. This car was actually made its appearance in the Paris Motor Show in 2010. Peugeot 508 is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel variants and could be powered by both automatic as well as manual gearbox. Peugeot 508 price could be high as it will make its entry in India by the means of CBU.
