Hindustan Motors to double the sales figures for Ambassador by 2011

Automaker, Hindustan Motors said that they are targeting to double the sales ratio of its symbolic Ambassador car to 24,000 vehicles per annum with the launch of its new variants.

Manoj Jha, Managing director of Hindustan Motors stated that they aim to double the sales figures of Ambassador to 24,000 units per annum in the next 15 – 18 months which at present is 12,000 units per annum.

Hindustan Motors is planning is planning to launch six new variants which will be both passenger and commercial vehicle segments in time span of 12-15 months which will start from the first quarter of 2011. Jha said that the company will launch six new variants in 12-15 months and is sure that this initiative will increase there sales count.Out of these 6 variants, 4 variants will be of Ambassador.

HM's Ambassador is manufactured at its Uttarpara plant in West Bengal. Ambassador is one of the oldest passenger cars in India. Hindustan Motors is also tied up with Mitsubishi Motors. HM's Chennai plant manufactures Mitsubishi Pajero and Lancer vehicles.

This joint venture company has currently launched Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X and the all new Montero sport utility vehicle. Mitsubishi Evolution X  is priced Rs. 49.95 lakhs (Ex – showroom, Delhi) whereas new Montero is priced at 38.95 lacs Ex-showroom in Delhi. Mr. Jha said that this is a remarkable addition to HM- Mitsubishi's history and will have a major impact on the Indian automobile market. Hindustan Motors' Tamil Nadu plant assembles Mitsubishi Outlander. The manufacturing plants of Hindustan Motors are in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. The company is also looking ahead to raise its small truck's maufacturing by 1000 units at the Indore (Madhya pradesh) manufacturing plant. This plant maufactures commercial vehicles only. Jha stated that they will maufacture 1,000 units of small trucks at the Indore plant. While the sales figure of HM is slow but even then company is confident to increase the sales ratio with the launch of six new variants. Hindustan Motors is seeking improvement in auto components business and are planning to increase their productivity.
