Fiat Punto Gets new Semi-automatic Dualogic Gearbox in Brazil
Italian auto major, Fiat has recently launched a new automatic variant of its flagship hatchback, Fiat Punto in Brazil, which powers the newly designed semi-automatic Dualogic gearbox, unveiled at Indian auto expo 2010. While India hasn't still received the Dualogic semi-automatic gearbox, Brazil receives the second generation of the same in the new Grande Punto.
The new generation Dualogic semi-automatic transmission now gets a crawl mode that helps the vehicle stop and start smartly in traffic. Moreover, it now receives gradient sensor that after sensing the need of acceleration uphill, increases the RPM of the engine accordingly. FYI Fiat's Dualgic gearbox integrates the functions of an automatic gearbox along with a manual gearbox, so to enhance the performance and driving pleasure with better fuel economy. The DuaLogic semi-automatic transmission works in a manner that the most suitable gear is used for the specific driving condition.
The new gearbox now supports a function to minimise torque to 3.5Nm, while it moves in the reverse. So boasting the all new features, the second generation Dualogic transmission further enhances the fuel efficiency with lesser fuel emissions.
Housing the 1.8-litre 16V E.torQ flex fuel engine, it churns out the maximum power output of 132bhp. Fiat Punto is likely to get a facelift in India possibly in 2014, whether it gets the Dualogic semi-automatic gearbox or not, is still a mystery.
