The government of India sadly raised the diesel, LPG and Kerosene prices on 24th June 2011. Petrol prices are already soaring high and touching the sky. Earlier there was hike in petrol price, which actually affected the petrol variants car sales in the country. And now with diesel and LPG prices hiked by Rs.3 and Rs. 50 respectively, this might also affect the car sales run on diesel.  Diesel from now on cost Rs. 40.75 a litre in Delhi, where it was Rs. 37.75 per litre. On the other hand, in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai diesel will be available for Rs. 45.05 per litre, Rs. 43.06 per litre and Rs. 43.16 per litre correspondingly.

LPG cylinders prices were hiked by Rs. 50. Therefore, now cooking gas will be available at the cost of Rs. 395.35 per cylinder in Delhi. Whereas cost of LPG cylinder in cities like Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata will be around Rs. 402.40, Rs. 398.45 and Rs. 415.10 respectively. Even LPG prices will affect the LPG cars on the whole, as many cars in India run of LPG Gas.

The petrol prices are already touching the sky, so car makers were very keen on launching diesel variants of their car models. Seeing the hike in diesel prices by Rs. 3 since Friday, cars sales will definitely be affected. If this price rising process continues like petrol, then diesel car buyers might have to spend a little more on the cover.

Even the insurance firms are trying to take advantage of the rise in fuel price. There was a buzz around that Insurance premium on diesel cars will be elevated by around 30%. Nonetheless, this hiked rate of interest will certainly enforce some burden to car sales in the country.
