2014 Volkswagen Passat

The next generation Passat would be out for European markets soon, well’ not soon enough though, it will appear in 2014 in Europe. The new Volkswagen Passat, based on the new MQB platform, has already being tested. And basis the speculations, this new version of the Passat will be longer as well as wider in comparison than the current one and also than the American version of the new Passat.

The new Volkswagen Passat is expected to have higher fuel efficiency, better performance, and improved interiors and built quality. The petrol engines will be TSI engines ranging from 1.4-litre to 1.8-litre to 2.0-litre. These engines will be from the EA 211 range of the Volkswagen Group. The power will also range from the 135bhp to 250bhp. The diesel variants on the other hand will be from the EA 288 series. New bi-turbo 2.0 TDI will be coming in with the new diesel range. Power for the diesel variants will be ranging from 170bhp to 200bhp.

The interiors will also be getting enhanced with better quality materials and also an infotainment system which was developed for models ranging from the Golf to Phaeton. The build quality will improve multifold. The American model is expected to come to India. The new Passat will be placed against the Mercedes-Benz C Class.
