    2012 Honda CR-V to sport 2.5 Liter i-VTEC engine

    The Japanese auto major Honda has released the 2012 Honda CR-V specifications and concept images. The 2012 Honda CR-V crossover will have two petrol engine options and two diesel engine options. The two petrol engines are 2.4 liter and 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engines with i-VTEC valve technology to further enhance the power generation and fuel economy. The 2.4 L i-VTEC engine that powers the crossover is said to produce lower power than the outgoing model, but however results in better torque output. The tuned engine with greater torque output could be the reason behind the improved fuel economy along with the low emission of the engine.

    The other petrol engine 2.5 L i-VTEC engine produces a peak power output of 201 Bhp and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The 5-speed automatic gearbox is the same as that of the outgoing model. The diesel variants of the Honda CR-V crossover are also on the cards, nevertheless at a later date in India as well as in the European market. While the launch of the refreshed crossover is likely to take place in India in 2012, the international launch is expected to take place in November at the Los Angeles Motor Show.

    Another upcoming launch slated in this month is Honda Brio hatchback expected to take place on 27th September. Amidst the mounting demand for the hatchbacks in India, Honda Brio price is expected to be placed under Rs 5 lakhs. However, there seems to be a slight deviation from Honda India’s side, with Honda compromising slightly on safety measure with the Honda Brio car, which is otherwise known for its high-on-safety cars.
