    2011 brings wider choice of cars

    2010 will always be remembered by automobile manufacturers as the year of growth, opportunity and demand. The year faced several launched in line as the Auto industry enjoyed its highest swing and registering itself at the second largest growing market in the wold. As many as 78 models were launched in Indian market after the economic slowdown. The cars launched were from different segments starting from Maruti Alto powered by K-10 engine to Buggati Veyron, the world's fastest and most expensive car. 18 models were unfolded by Mercedes Benz alone in a single year.

    Looking at the increasing rate of Indian's purchasing power, the trend is expected to continue in next fiscal year as well. And to enjoy the upcoming opportunity, the companies have already announced some sizzling launches for the year 2011. The launches will bring a wide range of variety for the Indian customers. As per claims made by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), 2011 will mark a total sales of 17,14,925 units. Addressing the issue, Pawan Goenka who is the president of SIAM commented that India will continue to be the second largest market for passenger cars which makes domestic share of 32%.

    The upcoming positive trend is the reason why companies like Volkswagen to Mercedes are targeting India with models built on Indian customer needs. The example of such Indian customers oriented cars include Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Etios. As per Kevin E. Wale, General Motors group president and managing director (MD), India will count among top ten markets for GM on globe by 2011.

    coming to small car segment, it will also be blessed with stand out models with Maruti and Hyundai already working towards it. 800Cc model will also be added to the all time favourite Chevrolet Spark which will be priced considerably below 1.0 litre variant. Hatchback segment will also have options like Honda Brio and Toyota Etios Liva priced between Rs4.5 to Rs6 lakh. Midsized sedan Renault Fluence will also make its way soon in the Indian Auto market making it far more competitive.

    Coming to the Luxury saloon segment, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi priced above 10 lakh will drive in to lure the Indian customers in 2011. moreover there will be some good launches from Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi and the sizzling Aston Martin.
