    Tata Nano to expand in neighbouring auto markets

    Tata Nano is most likely to share borders with neighbouring countries in the mid of the boomerang sales in the domestic auto market. Tata Motors is aiming to expand the wonder car in the neighbouring auto markets of Bangladesh, Thailand and Sri Lanka probably by the later part of 2011.

    Carl-Peter Forster, Chief Executive Officer at Tata Motors who was present at an auto show in Bochum, Germany, revealed that the company's strategy is to move from one auto market to another. However, Tata Nano still needs polishing for the respective auto markets.

    It seems its time for Tata Nano to test the waters in various auto markets. As per Mr Foster, Tata Nano sale will accelerate to 8,000 to 10,000 cars over the current sales figure of 6,000 to 7,000 cars. It can be claimed that the Indian auto mobile maker is offering 100 per cent finance to its buyers who are unable to pay the down payment.

    Tata Motors in November 2010 observed a deep slush in Tata Nano sales as it was only 509 units which suddenly picked up in December 2010 to 5,784 cars. It has registered an increase in sales of 60 per cent against the same month in 2009.

    Other than expanding the sales of Tata Nano, the company plans to introduce diesel model of the wonder car which is expected to launch by September 2011. Tata Nano's turbo system is the smallest in the globe which is manufactured by Honeywell. As per the sources, the powertrain will be adorned with Bosch's super small common rail direct injection (CRDi) system.
