Tata Nano to debut in Taiwan soon
Tata Nano, the cheapest car in India which is enjoying a robust demand form the buyers in its domestic market, is all set to make its debut in Taiwan, the self-ruled democratic island claimed by China, by the end of this year. The auto market of Taiwan has a high growth potential for fuel efficient and economical cars like Tata Nano, with a large population of middle class buyers.
However, it is possible that the company will modify this car before launching it in Taiwan's market as the island has higher level of emission standards as compared to India. Mr Pradeep Kumar Rawat, director-general of India-Taipei Association, told reporters that the
Tata Nano has a bright prospect in the Taiwan market. Mr Rawat further elaborated that he had a meeting with Mr Huang a while ago and found him excited by Tata Nano.
According to Mr Huang, chairman of Taiwan's TECO group (manufacturer of industrial motors and home appliances), the low price is not the only factor for success of a car in markets like Taiwan, and the company will start selling Tata Nano only after making it compatible to Taiwan's regulations and requirements.
Moreover, in India, Tata Motors has recently inaugurated a new production unit of Nano at Sanand in Gujarat. The new plant has a production capacity of 2.5 lakh unit initially, which is scalable up to 3.5 lakh units per year.
