Tata Nano gets a rebuff in Sri Lanka by auto drivers
It’s been quite a time that Tata Motors launched Tata Nano in Sri Lanka, but the Taxi drivers are not pretty happy with Tata Nano running in the country. The auto drivers in Sri Lanka literally held the traffic and demanded the government to stop all Tata Nano cars to hit the roads in Sri Lanka. Tata Nano is actually being considered a very tough competition to the three wheelers in the country.

Over hundreds of auto drivers actually blocked certain parts of the city for about an hour or so to show their anger and protest against a taxi firm, which is connected to a political party and is using a force of Tata Nano cars. A well known politician was spotted in Tata Nano with the president, Mahinda Rajapaksa this week subsequent to the Nano taxi firm launched less expensive cab services in early June. According to the FOSE or Federation of Self-Employees, the cab drivers will face a loss in their business if these Tata Nano taxi services are expanded further. Another thing mentioned by the FOSE was that they aim to boost up their flotilla from 45 to around 200 by the end of 2011. As per FOSE, the president has guaranteed in his election program that he will award them decent amount of tax dispensations that will in turn assist the environment pollution, which is caused by the Indian-prepared three wheelers.

The Tata Nano cab services being offered in Sri Lanka are quite affordable than the AC cars and their charges are quite similar to the 3 wheeler fares. However, Tata Nano is the cheapest car in the world and costs around Rs. 3,81,204 (INR) and $8500 (Rs. 9,31,345 Sri Lankan Rupees), which is almost 3 times the Tata Nano price in India.
